Gov’t Delivering Humanitarian Assistance to Tigray by Land, Air Transport

Addis Ababa, December 17, 2022 (Walta) – State Minister of the Government Communication Service, Selamawit Kassa, expressed that Ethiopian government is delivering humanitarian assistance to the Tigray region by land and air transport as per the agreement reached.

The government is working hard to implement the terms of the agreement in the northern part of the country, in a weekly press briefing, State Minister said.

She indicated that the humanitarian support is being provided to Tigray region via Afar Ab’ala, Gondar – Mai Tsemri – Shire and Kombolcha – Kobo – Alamata lines.

More than 93,000MT of food, over 8,000MT of non-food supplies and more than 833,000 liters of fuel have entered Tigray, till December 14.

According to the State Minister, 158MT of medicines have been sent to the region with support of partners, and 588 billion birr have been sent for business operation in the region.

She said that 29 partner organizations have participated in the humanitarian assistance operation.

65 telecom stations have been put into operation, and network installation works have been completed to restart banking service in 8 towns in the region, she added.
