Incomplete Vote Counting Causes Election Result Delay

Addis Ababa, July 2, 2021(Walta) – National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) indicated that it is not able to announce the final election results of all polling stations due to incomplete vote counting and transport-related problems.

NEBE Chairperson Birtukan Mideksa said yesterday that transport-related problems, incomplete vote counting of some polling stations, and complaints of some political parties have caused overall election results delay.

She said that the election results of seven polling stations in Afar, Agogo, and Addis Ababa have delayed because of incomplete vote counting.

She further said that the election results of four polling stations in Qelem Wolega and three stations in Amhara State have not been announced.

NEBE has so far received results of 618 out of 942 polling stations across the country.

NEBE indicated that it would soon announce the preliminary election results of 73 constituencies on its website, according to EPA.
