International Institutions Should Make Tangible Reforms that Accommodate the Needs of People in the Global South-Demeke Mekonnen

Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen

Addis Ababa, September 16, 2023 (Addis Walta) Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen urged the International Institutions to make tangible reforms that addressed the needs of people in the Global south.

Speaking at the G77 + China Leaders’ Summit in Cuba Havana, Demeke underscored that imposing individualized sanctions and coercive economic measures hampered the much-needed changes in science, technology, and economic development.

He also pointed out that facilitating and speeding up the transfer of knowledge and technology in the South-South cooperation platform has an important role in increasing innovation and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to ENA.

Different resolutions on various issues are expected to be passed in today’s last session at Havana.
