MoFA Expresses Success in Political, Citizen Diplomacy Recently

Addis Ababa, December 23, 2021 (Walta) – The Spokesperson of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Dina Mufti, has delivered fortnight press briefing today to the media. In his presentation, the Ambassador focused on political diplomacy and citizen-centered diplomatic activities over the week.

With regard to Political Diplomacy, President Sahlework Zewde visited African countries over the week. During her visit the President had a fruitful discussion with different African Presidents, he said.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation participation in the Third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit which was held under the theme “Enhanced Partnership for Common Development and Prosperity” was also mentioned productive.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen had been in Juba over the week for a one-day visit to South Sudan. He had a fruitful discussion with President Salva Kiir on bilateral issues of common concern, it was noted.

Regarding the convening of a Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council and the establishment of an international commission of experts on Ethiopia, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Redwan expressed it is unacceptable, and Ethiopia will not cooperate with the setup mechanism.

Amb. Dina further said that Ethiopia clearly stated that the decision is unacceptable, and it will not cooperate with the setup mechanism.
