Most Int’l Media Provide Remote Reporting about Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, September 14, 2021(walta) – Most international media outlets have been actively involving in remote reporting about the current situation of Ethiopia, according to the Ethiopian Media Authority (EMA).

EMA Director-General Mohammed Idris told local media that since the withdrawal of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) from the Tigray State and the declaration of a unilateral ceasefire by the federal government, the terrorist TPLF has been committing various atrocities against civilians and causing severe damages to public and private properties via invading many woredas of Amhara and Afar states.

He, however, said that only two international media outlets have so far requested permission to cover the situation.

He also stated that following the law enforcement operation, several international media outlets were urging the federal government to allow them to physically observe and report the situation on the spot.

Mohammed further stated that, but now these media outlets have not shown interest in reporting the atrocities being committed by terrorist TPLF in some parts of Amhara and Afar states despite the existing low-risk security situation in two states in comparison with Tigray.

It is to be recalled that various international media outlets were alleging the federal government for not allowing access to international media in the Tigray State.

After gaining access, these international media outlets have been disseminating fake news in connection with the federal government’s law enforcement operation.

They have also been making new stories with undisclosed sources about the current situation of Ethiopia.
