Nejashi Project Envisioning Global Village Unveiled

Addis Ababa, May 8, 2024(Addis Walta) The Nejashi Zero Zero Village project, which aims to build a global village in the Nejashi town of Tigray region, was unveiled at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa today.

This project aims to establish a global village in Nejashi town, located within the Tigray region. The event was attended by several high-ranking federal and regional officials, including Sheikh Haj Ibrahim Tufa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and Sheikh Adam Abdul Qadir, President of the Tigray Region Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

The event featured the screening of a documentary that explored the historical narrative of King Negashi and the contributions he made to justice and peace.

The project was named Nejashi Zero Zero to signify the historical roots and geographical significance of the narrative, where Islam initially took root in Ethiopia.

The Supreme Council for Ethiopian Islamic Affairs, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of the Tigray Region, and the King Nejashi Reconstruction and Development Initiative (ARDI) will oversee the execution of the project.

According to ENA, the tourist village will comprise various sub-projects, including a museum, a hotel, a research institution, as well as health and sports facilities.
