Nelson Mandela Museum to Be Opened for Visitors

Addis Ababa, January, 03/2023 (Walta) – Addis Ababa Culture and Tourism Bureau announced that Nelson Mandela Museum in Addis Ababa will be opened for visitors next year.

Head of Addis Ababa Culture and Tourism Bureau Dr. Hirut Kassaw said that including the landscape and design, all works is going to be completed by the end of this month.

The museum will play a vital role for the capital’s tourism attraction, Dr. Hirut added.

In collaboration with Addis Ababa University, the bureau has been renovating a museum named after the late President Nelson Mandela of South Africa, who took military training in Ethiopia during the struggle to end apartheid in his country.

Mandela museum is built in the compound of Federal Police Training Camp, Kolfie 18.

Addis Ababa University has been carrying out landscape and design works which is now in its final stage.

South African visitors and businesspersons visited the site and showed interest to support this significant project.

The main objective of Mandela Museum is to remember and pass the history to the next generation about Ethiopia’s contribution to South Africans struggle to be free from apartheid,
