Addis Ababa, December 6, 2022 (Walta) – The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde, discussed with the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General & Coordinator of the Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, Gerda Verburg, who is on a working visit to Ethiopia.
In their discussions, President Sahle-Work and Gerda Verburg advised on food and nutrition, nutrition transformation and the status of the Sekota declaration implementation in Ethiopia.
President Sahle-Work stated that Ethiopia is interested in organizing the 2023 United Nations Global Nutrition Summit.
The UN Assistant Secretary-General & SUN Movement Coordinator, Gerda Verburg, on her part, acknowledged the Ethiopian government’s commitment to implement nutrition projects.
Gerda Verburg was especially impressed by the strong coordination among relevant line ministries.
According to the Office of the President, she also requested if President Sahle-Work can be a national champion of nutrition.
