Security Forces Orders to Take Punitive Measure against TPLF Provocation

Addis Ababa, August 10, 2021 (Walta) – The Ethiopian government ordered its security apparatus to take punitive measures against Tigray People’s Liberation Fronts (TPLF)  provocations.

The Ethiopian Federal government which has the service of the National Defense Force, Regional Special Forces and Militia at its disposal  was in defensive position since it declared a unilateral ceasefire in July 2021.

However, following TPLF’s out right rejection of the unilateral  ceasefire and incursion in to neighboring regions of  Amhara and Afar Region, the government is forced to act again in order to discharge its constitutional obligation to safeguard the safety of its citizens.

The Office of the Prime Minister, in its statement highlighted the steps the government took in order to avoid the conflict in the Tigray regions of the country. However, its hands stretched for peace has remained futile owning to the military adventure  TPLF junta took on Ethiopian Defense Force Northern Command last October.

Apart from that the group designated as terrorist by Ethiopian House of People Representatives went on to inflict heavy loses on civilian life even after the Federal Government announced a unilateral ceasefire in areas its attacked.  The Afar attack being a case in point.

Taking in to consideration all the circumstance observed after the unilateral ceasefire, the government ordered its  security apparatus to take punitive measures against the terrorist group provocation.

Apart from ordering its security apparatus to take action, the government also called on all capable Ethiopians in the legal age to engage in combat to join the armed forces.
