Ministry creates over 1 mln jobs in 11 months

The ministry of youths and sport announced  that it has  created  more than 1 million  new jobs  for unemployed  youths found across the country during the last  eleven months of this  budget year .

Communication Director with the ministry, Nassir Legesse told WMC that about 1, 114, 130,000 new jobs were created for youths residing in different regions and city administrations using the revolving fund allocated by federal government, since september.

According to Nassir, the new jobs are created in the sectors of agriculture, construction, manufacturing, urban agriculture, mining, service and trade  across country and able to benefit youths and women residing  in urban and rural  parts  of the country.           

Ministry confirms that about 3.3 mln unemployed citizens are found in Ethiopia based on its survey undertaking after the launch of federal revolving fund across the country, Nassir indicated.

However, the ministry has decided and planned to create jobs only for 1, 061,055  youths during  this  fiscal  year  and managed  to  create jobs  for about  1,  114, 130  youths  in different sectors  during the eleven months  period of this  budget year, he underscored.    

Nassir noted that among the beneficiaries of the job creation activities 315, 344 youths are organized and establish their own enterprise in selected sectors.     

Currently, SNNP , Oromiya and Amhara regions  have effectively  utilized  the  allocated  youth  revolving  budget for one year and started  to request additional  budgets for  further  job creation activities, Nassir underlined.      

Nassir also  stated that  the ministry underway preparations to exchange  best experiences and practices   of youths  in one area  to  another  area  regarding  job creation activities .

The national job creation activity is supervised by the steering committee established at different administration levels  and authorized to resolve problems encountered during the  job creation activities , walta learnt.
