Relations with Ethiopia greatly improved: Egypt FM

Addis Ababa, 3 October 2014 (WIC) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted that relations with Ethiopia had been greatly improved after the meeting held between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn in Equatorial Guinea.

That meeting contributed to turning over a new leaf regarding the relations between the two sisterly countries, he added.

In the symposium held on Wednesday 1/10/2014 by the Canada-Egypt Business Council, the minister said that Ethiopia asserted that it is keen on not harming Egypt’s quota of water.

The minister also said that the recent meeting between the President and Ethiopian PM in New York asserted that the Nile Basin unifies its countries rather than fragments them.

Shoukry went on to say that relations with Ethiopia are on the right track, looking forward to Hailemariam’s visit to Cairo for its importance in defining the aspects of future. (State Information Service)
