President Obama arrives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, July 2015 (WIC) ¬ – United States President Barack Obama has arrived today  in Ethiopia for the  bilateral meetings of the two countries and meetings at the African Union.

He has arrived at the Addis Ababa International Airport today at 12:05 and welcomed by the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

President Barack Obama is the first sitting US president not only to visit Ethiopia but also to address the African Union and attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

His visit is believed to cement the diversified bilateral relations between United States Ethiopia.

During his visit President Obama will hold talks with Ethiopian Prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Ethiopian President Dr. Mulatu Teshome.

The two parts will also discuss on facilitating peace in South Sudan, countering al-Shabaab in Somalia, and advancing Ethiopia’s growth and development.

 

Previously Susan Rice said that the President’s visit will reflect the longstanding, strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Ethiopia.

 

Obama is also expected to highlight his country’s efforts to support young African leaders, as well as to increase access to electricity, to deepen our partnerships on food security and global health.

 

It is also scheduled that the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the chairwoman of the African Union Commission and during that day will also have the opportunity to highlight some of his country’s sustainable development initiatives.
