Ethiopia, USA agrees to bolster bilateral relations

Addis Ababa, 27 July, 2015(WIC) – Ethiopia and the USA have agreed to bolster the long standing bilateral relations in various sectors.

During the Joint press conference of President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, explained that the have discussed and reached at an agreement to bolster their bilateral relations.

President Barack Obama said that Ethiopia and USA have strong and long time relations that stayed for more than 100 years.

He added that it is now high time to  further strengthen  trade, investment, military and security cooperation’s.

The two countries have  agreed to cooperate in training  dynamic and outstanding   Ethiopian students that could make a difference on a strong nation building, President Obama noted.

As Ethiopia is the fastest and largest growing economy in Africa, it will create a great opportunity for the USA that  attracts the USA business and private sectors, Obama said.

The Power Africa Initiative Program aims to attain the demand of energy of Africa will help Ethiopia in achieving its ambitions to access  electricity  for millions of people , the President reiterated.

According to Obama, Ethiopia has lifted millions of people from poverty and   people in the rural areas have been getting access to education and health facilities.

Ethiopia is a major contributor of troops in the International Peace Keeping Force, the President said, the long time participation of Ethiopia in stability and conflict resolution has  strengthened  from time to time, he added.

Prime Minister Hailemariam on his part said, President Obama’s visit has given a new height for the deepening bilateral relations and cooperation of the two nations, in a range of fields, particularly in the expansion of trade and investment.
