PM Hailemariam vows to sustain meeting with political parties

Addis Ababa, 10 October 2015 (WIC) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegne says discussions with opposition political parties on various national issues will be sustained and cemented as far as they are obeying the rules and regulations of the country and the constitution.

During the discussion held at the Economic Commission for Africa Hall, the Premier noted that his government wants to strengthen meeting with opposition political parties on the country’s overall situations and to arrange such discussion forums in the future as well.

During the discussion, the opposition political parties underscored that achievements recorded in the first Growth and Transformation Plan are promising and they said that in GTP-II the government should exert more effort to ensure good governance and focus more on job creation for the youth.

According to PM Hailemariam, in the first GTP over 6 million women and youth have become beneficiaries of the urban development and house construction projects and the government has targeted to satisfy many more in the second GTP.

The national saving rate has reached 60 percent and this is an indication of a healthy economic growth and income flow in the country and creating conducive environment for trade and investment shall be one of the main focuses of the government in the GTP II period.

Walta learnt that opposition political parties are ready to contribute their share to tackle governance loopholes and ensure good governance along with the ruling party in the second GTP and realize Ethiopian renaissance.
