Ambassador Berhane confers with Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland

Addis Ababa, 16 July 2015 (WIC) – State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhane Gebre Cirstos met the Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland, H.E Mr. Konard Pawlik discussed on bilateral cooperation on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Finance for Development, MoFA reported.

Ambassador Berhane noted that Ethiopia and Poland has a good legacy of cooperation in multifaceted areas like environmental protection, local capacity building, agriculture and other fields of cooperation.

Mr Konrad also conforms to the State Minister’s remark reiterating that Ethiopia is the priority partner from East Africa. The Deputy Minister said Ethiopia would remain to be a partner country as it is crucially important to Poland.

The two countries entered into a new phase of economic cooperation via improving ICT infrastructures and technology transfer the two Ministers noted. Poland was ready to strengthen the education exchange programs through awarding scholarships for talented Ethiopians who aspire to further their education programs, Mr Konrad said.

The Minister also recalled the signing of an agreement on avoidance of double taxation with the Ethiopian Finance Minister Sofian Ahmed two days ago pact at the sideline of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3).

Ambassador Bernhane at last appreciated Poland’s interest to strengthen cooperate with Ethiopia at a broader level and stressed on the importance of invigorating future cooperation between the two countries.
