Dr. Tedros holds talks China’s Representative to the African Union

Addis Ababa, 6 August 2015 (WIC) – Foreign Minister Dr.Tedros Adhanom holds talks with a delegation led by Ambassador Kuang Weilin, Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the AU, at his offices today, MoFA reported.

Dr. Tedros expressed that the relations between the two countries is cordial and is based on win-win approaches.

Dr. Tedros also noted that Ethiopia appreciates its relations with China.

Dr. Tedros further noted that China is a partner in the development that is taking place in Africa.

He said the relation between the two countries is a good model for south-south cooperation. Upon notifying his appointment as China’s Representative to the AU, Mr. Kuang Weilin, on his part expressed that he has witnessed “tremendous changes and transformation underway in Ethiopia”.  

Mr. Kuang described Ethiopia as “a country with a bright future”. He further emphasized that “China attaches a great deal of importance to its multi-lateral diplomatic relations with the Africa Union, to Africa and particularly to Ethiopia.”

Mr. Kuang was also appreciative of the assistance of the Government of Ethiopia for Chinese productive diplomatic relations with the African Union.
