Court Jails 18 for Terrorist Acts

Addis Ababa, 6 August 2015  (WIC) – The 4th Criminal Bench of the Federal High Court sentenced yesterday 18 suspects accused of terrorism from 7 to 22 years.

From among those charged under Abubeker Ahmed et al file, the court gave 22 years of rigorous imprisonment to Abubeker Ahmed, Ahmedin Jebel, Yasin Nuru and Kamil Shemsu whom the court found guilty of being highly involved in terroristic crimes.

According to ENA, the other suspects in the same case, Bedru Hussein, Sabir Yergu, Mohammed Abate, Abubeker Alemu and Munir Hussein were also sentenced to 18 years rigorous imprisonemnt.

In addition, Sheik Mekete Muhe, Sheik Ahmed Mustapha, Sheik Seid Ali, Mubarak Adem and Khalid Ibrahim were sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment, while Murad Shekur, Nuru Turki, Sheik Bahru Oumer and Yoseph Getachew received 7 years rigorous imprisonment.

Passing the verdict, the court said it was convinced that the suspects had conspired and executed the crime in unison.
