Ethiopian green economy projects achieves remarkable results

Addis Ababa, 6 August 2015(WIC)- Ministry of Agriculture says the Green economy projects implemented in Ethiopia registering remarkable results.

Climate Resilient Green Economy Coordinator with the ministry, Sertse Sibuh told WIC that national green economy strategy implemented in 27 districts across the nation outcome encouraging results in the past 1.5 years.

According to Sertse, Integrated activities on watershed managements and soil and water conservation of good lessons and experiences are drawn to other districts to reduce the impact of climate change. 

The ministry underway activities of land recovery, seedling production, water and soil conservation based on the agricultural development strategy of the across the nation to enhance the agricultural productivity and maintain food security, Sertse added.

Modern agricultural practices regarding crop production and animal breeding have increased the agricultural output of the nation, said Serste, the national agricultural products indicated substantial growth from time to time.
Ethiopian green economy projects obtained 6.8 million USD aid from England, Austria, Norway and Denmark governments to for implementation of the projects so far.

In addition the ministry plans to start the project in eight selected districts by 3.8 million USD fund donated from Denmark.

Ethiopia has set a Green Economy Strategy in 2011 GC to reduce climate change impacts, Walta learnt.
