ODA’s achievement in education sector needs to be strengthened- Mukitar Kedir

Adama, 05 October 2015 (WIC)- President of Oromiya Regional State, Muktar Kedir, noted that the achievements being registered by the Oromiya Development Association’s (ODA) boarding school so far need to be strengthen.  

Speaking at an award ceremony prepared by the association to the outstanding students, teachers and stakeholders of ODA’s boarding school in Adama,  ODA is working toward creating access to quality education and is registering  encouraging results in its engagements so far,” said Mukitar.

According to Muktar, the boarding school will produce problem solving students for the country.

“The first of its kind, the boarding school in the region is producing outstanding students. If such efforts are to be sustained, it is possible to ensure an exemplary quality education across the region,” remarked Muktar.

Mukitar, who noted that the government has given special emphasis to ensure education quality, added that ODA will continue to expand social projects which can ensure benefits of the society. He also said the association will continue striving to achieve the goal laid in the education sector of the country by playing its part to the sector.

Mukitar called up on the management of the school, stakeholders in the education subsector and the society at large to strengthen their support to ensure quality education further. He also underscored that the regional government he is leading will provide every necessary support the school might need.

Board chairman of the association, Abadula Gemeda, on his part said that ODA is giving due attention to regional needs in education sector. He also said that education is the key weapon to attain any human endeavor and that is why the association established a boarding school which can ensure quality

The board chairman noted that students were recruited  from all schools across the region based up on their grade and entrance exam. He said that such a screening process has been developing a sense of competition not only among students but all also zones, Woredas and even between parents in the regional states.

Director of the ODA’S Boarding, Adanech Abebe, noted that the organization she is leading has constructed and made ready for service 645 schools in the region. According her, to the association has already built another boarding school which is expected to enroll students this academic year in Guder Woreda..
