OPDO affirms determination to make reform successful

The Central Committee of the Oromo People's Democratic Organization (OPDO) affirmed its determination to make the reform successful and address legitimate concerns of the public related to development, justice and good governance.

The communiqué the Central Committee issued following the conclusion of the evaluation meeting which was in session for six days said the party will continue to rectify itself so as to maximize the benefits of the Oromo people.

The Committee stated its determination to make the reform a success by continuing to replacing senior high-level leaders with leaders capable of enhancing the struggle, to address challenges caused from leadership gaps.

It also affirmed commitment to wage war against malpractices and lack of good governance that hinders the socio-economic development of the people in close collaboration with public.  

The Committee has also affirmed readiness to strive for the sustainability of democratization process through strengthening public and democratic institutions.

Since peace is the basis to enhance the ongoing development, the Committee acknowledged the role the public played in ensuring peace and stability in the regional state.

It expressed readiness to sustain peace and development in the region with closely working with the public to avoid violence such as the recent ones that cost the lives of citizens and damaged properties.

Noting that the path to reform is a process that takes time, it called upon the public to actively engage in the reform program.

It has called on party leaders at various levels as well as the public to discharge responsibility for the success of the reform so that to maximize the benefit of the people.

It was recalled that the Central Committee has replaced party chairperson and deputy chairperson following the evaluation meeting which was in session for six days.
