“Ethiopia our home, capital of Africa”- Delamini Zuma(PhD)

The Outgoing commissioner of the African Union (AUC), Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma(PhD), during her farewell program held at Sheraton Addis yesterday said that Ethiopia is a home and capital for Africans.

She noted that Ethiopia is growing fast to be an exemplary to other African countries through time.

African Union is becoming a union of peoples’ than a union of governments’ she said adding that; conflicts should be resolved through discussions and dialogues.

Zuma is optimistic that Agenda 2063 will be realized as the African people and diaspora are actively participating in the overall growth and development of their continent.

Special Envoy of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Birhane Gebrechirstos, on his part said that Dlamini-Zuma has played a significant role in leadership and gender equity.  Her role in fighting Ebola outbreak was excellent as well, he added.

Birhane has extended his best wishes to Zuma on behalf of the prime minister.

On 15 July 2012, Dlamini-Zuma was elected by the African Union Commission as chairperson, making her the first woman to lead the organization.

Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma born 27 January 1949 is a South African politician and anti-apartheid activist. She was South Africa's Minister of Health from 1994 to 1999, under President Nelson Mandela, then Minister of Foreign Affairs from 17 June 1999 to 10 May 2009, under presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe. She was moved to the position of Minister of Home Affairs in the Cabinet of President Jacob Zuma.
