Government warns bodies inciting violence, conflict

The Ethiopian government, via a weekly statement released from the Office of Government Communication Affairs, warned that bodies who are trying to incite conflict as agents of one or the other party to refrain from their destructive acts.

Head of the Office with Ministerial status, Dr. Negeri Lencho, stated that bodies who are trying to transfer provocative message through social media and violence and conflict should stop their tendencies.

Some others who are awestruck by the temporary challenges in their surroundings and are releasing statements that incriminate the other side should also refrain from such acts as it is aggravating the problem.

The government warned that such acts amount to grave crime and shall result in worth accountability.

The lately unfolding violence and conflict between the Oromos and Somalis, who lived for years in mutual respect and coexistence, is not reflective of the people on both sides.

The statement reiterated that the centuries-long sense of brotherhood and coexistence shall sustain unshaken by temporary challenges.  

The government expressed its condolences for families who lost their relatives and loved ones due to the situation.
