Ethiopian competing political parties’ dialogue kicks off

Leaders of competing political parties began dialogue in Addis Ababa at the Intercontinental Hotel yesterday.

The dialogue was the continuation of the consultation which was launched by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed last month.

Chairperson of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), Birtukan Mideksa, said the dialogue is important to ensure that the necessary political and legal reforms are undertaken to conduct free, fair, and credible election.

She further said the conversation is needed to build democratic institutions, to strengthen cooperation among political parties and gather reform ideas from the parties.
