810 schools discontinue education amid security problems

The Oromia Region Education Bureau announced today that 810 schools discontinued giving education amid the security problems happened in five Zones of the region.

According to Head of the Bureau, Tola Beriso, 290 in West Wolega, 296 in Kelem Wolega, 114 Horo Gudiru Wolega, 66 West Guji and 44 in Borena zones of the region were shut down.

In addition, all schools in west Wolega discontinue education for nine days, but now they resume operation after teachers and communities made cooperation to solve problem.

The head also called upon other zones continue education by taking a good lesson from this zone.

He also urged the youth not pay extra sacrifice and work towards eradication illiteracy and poverty.
