Government fails to deliver its promise: IDPS

The Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of West and East Guji Zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia said that the promise the government made to rehabilitate them is not yet practical.

The Gedio Zone administration had deliberated talks with Yirgachefe zonal and Woreda Administration on the current condition of the area.     

During the discussion, issue of Gedio communities whom the government pledged to help them institute life in their place of birth—at Guji zones are still desperate on the promised aid of the government.

The also complained that the federal and the regional government do not give attention to matter, and officials those involve in displacing them are now assuming better positions.
Administrator of the Zone, Gezu Assefa, said that the government did not deliver its promise.

Member of the Executive council of the ruling party, Anteneh Fekadu told Walta that the Oromia region and the Federal government should hurriedly respond to the crisis.

The discussion attracted officials of the vicinity, intellectuals and religious leaders.

Close 800 thousand people displaced in the two zones in the region.
