ERA to inaugurate roads linking Adama expressway with Addis

Addis Ababa, August 5, 2016 (WIC) –The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) said that the two roads which links Adama expressway with Addis Ababa in two directions will be inaugurated tomorrow.

The 28.1 km Akaki-IT Park (Goro) and Akaki-Lebu asphalt concrete roads were built by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) at a cost of 4.6 billion birr.

About 75 percent of the construction cost was covered by a loan secured from Exim Bank of China. The remaining cost was covered by the government of Ethiopia.

Six bridges, four interchanges and a railway crossing were built on the roads.

The roads were completed six months ahead of the schedule. More than 3,000 jobs were created during the construction of the roads.

The roads are expected to ease traffic congestion along Akaki-Kaliti road. (FBC)
