African media professionals visit china

Senior Media Professionals from the English-speaking and French-speaking African Countries and the African Union have visited and attended trainings for 21 days in Beijing and Qingdao Cities, China.    

It was noted that 45 delegates from 16 African countries have visited and attended trainings organized by Research and Training Institute, National Radio and TV Administration (NRTA) which was sponsored by Academy for International Business Officials, Ministry of Commerce and Public Relations of China from August 9th to 29th 2019. The trainees have learnt and experienced a lot about the history of China and how its people struggled to liberate their land and built it to become a great country.  

During the closing ceremony, Chairman of Shandong Qingdao University Education Group, Zhang Zhenqi, said that Africa is a good friend for China and we will continue to cooperate with African countries to achieve the greater heights for interests of the people of Africa and China at large. 

Vice president of the Research and Training Institute (RTI), National Radio and Television Administration, Liu Ying, also said that with a better knowledge of China, hopefully all participants will use the knowledge to help their future work, and contribute their parts to promote friendly cooperation between China and African Countries.

RTI will continue to devote itself to the development and innovation of radio and television trainings to meet the opportunities brought by new technologies, she added.   

The trainees underlined that the visit is not only for sightseeing, but also to develop our networking relationship which will be geared at utilizing the skills and experiences gained in China.   

African Journalists who attended the Seminar pledged to preach the goodness of the people of China and its traditional cultures, they added.        

Senior officials from NRTA and its relevant departments, experts and professors from prestigious universities have delivered lectures on China’s national condition, China’s radio and television development and strategy, new media development, operation idea and innovation of broadcasting organizations, exchange and cooperation between China and African Countries.  

Meanwhile, a combination of classroom discussion and field visits were also applied to the programs; participants have chance to visit CCTV, other broadcasters and media houses in Beijing, media enterprises and industrial parks.

Besides, participants had study tours to Beijing and Qingdao, Shandong Province so as to have a better understanding of historical sites of the cities and get the whole picture of China’s media landscape under the converged media background.  

By December 2018, a total of 4,175 radio and television ministerial officials, middle and senior managers, editors, journalists and technicians from 152 countries from five continents had participated in various training programs in China, it was noted.
