Ambassador Taye Holds Talks with UN Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa

Addis Ababa, May 5, 2022(Walta) – Ethiopian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taye Atsekeselassie, holds talks with United Nations Special Envoy of Horn of Africa, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Ambassador Taye said that they had a fruitful discussion on a wide range of issues including political developments in the Horn, the ATMIS transition in Somalia, the humanitarian truce in Ethiopia, and, cross-border security challenges.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Hanna Serwaa Tetteh of Ghana as his Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa in February 2022. She succeeds Parfait Onanga-Anyanga of Gabon.

She served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) since 2019. Before that, she was the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi.

She also served in the Cabinet of the Government of Ghana as Minister for Foreign Affairs, during which time she was also a member of the National Security Council and the Armed Forces Council (2013-2017).
