Ambassador Teferi Melesse Confers with UK Parliamentary Group on Ethiopia, Djibouti

Addis Ababa, June 22, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Teferi Melesse, conferred with UK members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ethiopia and Djibouti at the House of Commons.

Ambassador Teferi briefed members of the group regarding the current political developments in Ethiopia.

The ambassador detailed the various measures the Ethiopian government has taken in order to build confidence among different state and non-state actors in a bid to ensure durable peace in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Teferi stressed the need to denounce TPLF’s continued conscription of young children in its preparation for a third-round military offensive.

He also emphasized the large-scale drought and resultant humanitarian needs in different parts of Ethiopia and the sub-region.

Ambassador Teferi highlighted Ethiopia’s endeavor to ensure food self-sufficiency through increased agricultural productivity.

The MPs, on their part, appreciated the encouraging political developments and government efforts to ensure food security. They expressed their commitment to supporting Ethiopia in encouraging UK investors to do business in Ethiopia.
