Dire Dawa Dry Port Terminal Inaugurated


Addis Ababa, February 2, 2023 (Walta) –
Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise inaugurated its Dire Dawa Dry Port Terminal with a cost of 3.5 bln Birr.

Built on 34 hectares of land, the dry port is opened for service in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, CEO of Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise, Roba Megerssa, and Mayor of Dire Dawa, Kedir Juhar.

The port has a capacity of hosting 130,000 containers per annum when it is fully operational and a parking space for 140 heavy trucks at once.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Kedir Juhar, said that the opening of Dire Dawa Dry Port and Terminal built with international standards, is a great asset for the country and the development of the city.

Due to its vicinity to Djibouti Port and Dire Dawa Free Trade Area, the dry port is expected to have a significant contribution to Ethiopia’s import-export sector.

On the occasion, Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise has unveiled the company’s new logo and trade mark.
