Addis Ababa, January, 04, 2023 (Walta) – The FDRE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen congratulates Qin Gang on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
Demeke reaffirmed Ethiopia’s firm commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
He also expressed his hope that the comprehensive, strategic, and cooperative partnership between Ethiopia and China will be enriched during Qin Gang’s tenure in office, according to MoFA.
In a letter addressed to the new Chinese Foreign Minister on January 3, 2023, Demeke further expressed his wishes for Qin Gang’s personal well-being, as well as the People’s Republic of China’s continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
Qin Gang, China’s ambassador to the United States of America and a trusted aide of President Xi Jinping, has been appointed as the country’s new Foreign Minister by the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, replacing the former FM, Wang Yi.
