Ethiopia Assisted 61 Countries to Evacuate their Citizens from Sudan

Addis Ababa, May 04, 2023 (Walta) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ethiopia provided assistance and support for 61 countries to safely evacuate their citizens from Sudan.

Speaking at the weekly briefing, the Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Meles Alem, stated that the conflict in Sudan is a matter of concern for Ethiopia and is paying close attention to it.

The spokesman told journalists at the briefing that 75 flight services have been licensed by Ethiopia so far for the safe evacuation of citizens of different countries from Sudan. The cooperation and assistance rendered by Ethiopia helps to strengthen its relations with other countries.

The spokesperson underscored that Ethiopia has a strong stance that the conflict in Sudan should be resolved through dialogue with the knowledge and wisdom of the Sudanese within the framework of the African Union.

A National Task Force, in collaboration with Ethiopian Embassy in Sudan, has been established and is working diligently to ensure and monitor the safety of Ethiopians in Sudan.
