Ethiopia Earns 10 billion Dollars from Export –PM

Addis Ababa, July 7, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopia has earned 10 billion dollars from the export of goods and services in the just concluded Ethiopian budget year said Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed while addressing lawmakers today.

He said that more than six billion dollars of the earning come from export the services while the remaining balance come from export of goods.

The export of the agricultural commodity constitutes 20 percent of the earning from goods export. According to the PM, the export growth is one of a kind as compared to the export performance of the last decade.

The PM told the nation lawmakers that his administration has settled 1.7 billion dollars foreign debts in order to ease the country’s debt burden.

Despite the security challenge the country has faced with, Ethiopia has managed to attract three billion Dollars in Foreign Direct Investment. That is a 10 percent growth as compared to last year performance, said the PM.

In relation to the finance sector, the PM said that the country’s banking sector asset has reached 2.3 trillion birr while their gross deposit is 1.6 trillion birr.

Out of the total deposit the bank mobilized in this budget year, they have disbursed over 350 billion birr to over 350 thousand client, he elaborated.
