Addis Ababa, May 4, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency (INSA) said that it has foiled cyber-attacks targeting the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and financial institutions of the country.
“The cyber – attacks include attempts to impede the works of GERD by targeting 37,000 interlinked computers used by financial institutions,” said Shumete Gizaw, the Director General of the Ethiopian (INSA).
“Organizations sponsored by countries that envy peace and development endeavors of Ethiopia have declared cyber war against Addis Ababa” he added.
The origin of the attacks which was carried out under the banner “Black Pyramid War” was not disclosed. The director general did not disclose the implicated sponsoring countries or organizations as well.
