Ethiopia to Repatriate over 12 Thousand Citizens from Africa, Middle East

Addis Ababa, July 14, 2022(Walta) – The Ethiopian government is trying to repatriate more than 12,000 Ethiopians in dire situations from different parts of Africa and the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Meles Alem, said that efforts are underway to ensure the safety of citizens in different parts of the world.

He said that the ministry is working with relevant stakeholders in order to repatriate more than 12,000 Ethiopians from various countries in Africa and the Middle East.

Ethiopians in a dire situation will be repatriated from Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Sudan, Yemen, and Oman, said the spokesperson while briefing reporters in a weekly press briefing.

Ethiopia has so far repatriated over 100 thousand Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia from March to June 2022 making 126 airlifts.
