Ethiopia, WB Sign $1.72 bln Financing Agreements

Addis Ababa, April 5, 2024 (Addis Walta) The Ministry of Finance and the World Bank signed a $1.72 billion (approximately ETB 97.35 billion) financial agreements in the form of credits and grants, for the implementation of six projects.

The finance will be used to boost sustainable development and inclusive growth in the country.

The finance will be used to implement six projects including Rural Connectivity to Support Food Security Program, Third Additional Financing for Strengthening Ethiopia’s Adaptive Safety Net Project, Second Additional Financing for the Urban Productive Safety Net and Jobs Project, Phase 2 of the Lowlands Livelihood Resilience Project, Power Sector Reform, Investment, and Modernization in Ethiopia Project, and Power Sector Reform, Investment, and Modernization in Ethiopia Project, according to Ministry of Finance.

Representing the Government of Ethiopia, Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, , and Ousmane Dione, Country Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan at the World Bank signed the financial agreements.
