Forum on National Rehabilitation Affairs Kicks off in Mekelle

Addis Ababa, March 10, 2023 (Walta) – Part of the Peace deal between the Ethiopian government and Tigray people libration front (TPLF), a stakeholder consultation forum focused on national rehabilitation issues has kicked off today in Mekele, Tigray.

Hosted by National Rehabilitation Commission of Ethiopia and United Nations (UN), the forum focused on consulting and reaching an agreement with the relevant stakeholders on the organization of the commission’s missions and its key activities in the next two years.

Ethiopian National Rehabilitation Commission commissioner, Ambassador Teshome Toga, deputy commissioner, Atinkut Mezgebu, members of House of People’s Representative, federal government higher officials, officials from TPLF, UNDP Ethiopian representatives, members of civic society and development partners are attending the forum.

The forum also aims to reassure the commitment of the Ethiopian government in its effort to permanently reintegrate the former combatants into the societies.

Hosting the first round of the forum at Mekelle confirms the restoration of peace and stability in Tigray region following the peace deal.
