Nat’l Sustainable Energy Development Strategy Launched

Addis Ababa, April 12, 2024(Addis Walta) The Ministry of Water and Energy has launched a National Sustainable Development Strategy of Ethiopia (N-SEDS) 2024-2030 today in Addis Ababa to address the challenges in the sector.

The strategy’s overarching goal is to guide actions for a sustainable and inclusive energy future in Ethiopia.

Opening the validation workshop on N-SEDS today, State Minister of Water and Energy Sultan Wali said the strategy is targeted to resolve the challenges in the energy sector.

The National Sustainable Energy Development Strategy (N-SEDS) seeks to achieve energy access and social equity, economic growth and competitiveness, energy efficiency and conservation, energy security and Resilience, and environmental sustainability, it was indicated.

The national energy strategy is a government-wide strategy that connects several sectors and players including government agencies across all relevant sectors, according to ENA.

The energy sector in Ethiopia plays a crucial role in supporting economic growth, improving living standards, and achieving sustainable development goals.

Various pertinent stakeholders of the sector attended the launching ceremony.
