Addis Ababa, February 22, 2022 (walta) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahme said that the Federal government of Ethiopia is working intensively and closely with with Regional Government of Afar to alleviate situations.

Prime Minister Abiy at the 3rd Emergency Session of the House of Peoples Representatives said that when one part is injured, the entire country suffers. At this time, the international community has no grounds to accuse Ethiopia.

He further said that Shene avoids engaging in direct combat but rather slaughters innocent people. They appear strengthened since they had found a lot of trainers and hide amongst communities. There should be an approach the communities, hold discussions and work out solutions, he added.

Regarding the engagement of competing parties the Premier said, “It’s crucial to keep in mind that competing parties have a say in cabinet and government decisions. Going forward, such engagement will continue extensively. The national consultation process will also help us to establish a favorable environment for further collaboration.”

According to Abiy, there has been no negotiation so far with the terrorist group TPLF. The newly constituted National Dialogue Commissioners have simply been given the task of coming up with proposals; the Ethiopian people will make the final decisions.

“We must be cautious not to fall prey to the enemy’s scheme. Forgiveness should be practiced at a national level. All we have to do now is look beyond the past. We released the prisoners for three reasons: to bring lasting peace, taking into consideration the overall situation of the prisoners, and to consolidate our victory”, Abiy affirmed.
