Ethiopian Diaspora Association Commends Pre-election Process

Addis Ababa, 21 May 2015 (WIC) – Ethiopian Diaspora Association said the pre-election process was democratic and has witnessed strong public participation.

The association held a press conference here yesterday in connection with the Diaspora’s participation in the upcoming election and the country’s ongoing development process.
During the occasion, Acting President of the Association Dr. Alebachew Beyene said the association is working to make the election credible.

According to Dr. Alebachew, attitudinal change in family, societal and government levels towards election is a big contributor in developing Ethiopia’s democratic culture and called for the strengthening of the trend.

He indicated that the majority of the Ethiopian Diaspora wants to see a country with strong and vibrant economy and prosperity; and they want the upcoming election to be held peacefully and democratically.

Members of the association on their part stated that the country’s democratic culture is flourishing from time to time and added that the general public has a great responsibility in strengthening this trend.

They also called election observers to effectively execute their responsibilities and play their own share for the thriving of democracy in the country.
According to ENA, the Ethiopian Diaspora Association was established two years ago and has more than 1,500 members.
