Turkey to invest $1 billion to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, March 12, 2021  (Walta)  – Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia, Yaprak Alp, said that Turkey is interested maximizing investment to Ethiopia to one billion dollar.

 

125 years ago, when Turkey knocked on the door of African governments for bilateral relations in the commercial and investment sectors, Emperor Menelik’s palace was its priority.

 

Ambassador Yaprak Alp also noted that bilateral relation of the two countries, which was established in 1896, has played a significant role in strengthening trade and investment at large.

 

Turkey was working with a special emphasis on its ties to Ethiopia; so far it has been able to create job opportunities for more than 25 thousand Ethiopians by increasing the direct flow of Turkish assets and opening new industries in the country.

 

Now Turkey has invested about $2.5 million in Ethiopia in textiles and other investment sectors and sits next to Chinese investors in amount of investment.

 

The ambassador further said that her country has a strong desire to strengthen its investment to a billion dollars.

 

She also noted that the new Ethiopian Embassy, inaugurated in Turkey city Ankara, is vital in strengthen bilateral and international affairs, as well as the sustainability of the trade and investment sectors between the countries.

 

In addition to the trade and investment relation, Ethiopia and Turkey have, indicated that they will also work in education, health, security and peace-making sectors.
